Here is the deal, I got the book shipped to me, and I am currently buying the audio book. Yes, I expect it to be that good.

Don't expect to hear much from me in the near future...

I have read David Weber before, on the Ring of Fire series, it didn't impress me at all. Recently I discovered David Gemmell, great stuff, especially the Drenai stories, I was sorry to discover he died a couple of years ago.

By the way, in terms of raw talent IMVHO the best of the living ones (the best of all time is obviously Robert Heinlein, no IMHOs there) I read is Peter Hamilton, but could improve, he tends to lost the plot a bit.

Now, an Hamitlon with the technical mastery of the dark art of writing of an Harry Turtledove, that is what I would love to read ..

That's funny, I just went to a few bookstores here looking for this - I just finished re-reading Off Armageddon Reef, and didn't want to wait for shipping. unfortunately, no-one has it yet.

In either case, I share your excitement. I loved the first (despite a few annoying bits of writing style here and there) and can't wait for this.
